The Citizens Constitutional Forum believes that the interim government is being over sensitive in not allowing any member of the International Bar Association to enter Fiji.
Speaking to Village news CCF Executive Director Reverand Akuila Yabaki, who is currently in transit on his way to Geneva, said such decisions are unwarranted.
The Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum stresses that members of the International Bar Association are not welcome in Fiji at this stage. Speaking to Village News, Sayed Khaiyum confirmed that IBA Programmes Lawyer Felica Johnston was stopped from entering the country under a directive by the Interim Government.
Sayed Khiayum said any visit by a member of the IBA could jeopardize the cases currently before the courts and the IBA will be welcomed at a later stage.
Meanwhile, Fiji Law Society President, Isireli Fa also believes that the interim government may be miss informed over the reasons for Johnstons visit and they would seek a meeting with the relevant interim minister this week.
