The Ministry of Health has confirmed that 15 people have died from dengue and over 25,300 people were infected during the outbreak in Fiji from the 30th of October last year to last week.
National Advisor for Communicable Disease Dr. Mike Kama said from February to April this year, 200 cases of dengue was recorded every week which it then declined to 50 cases per week in April.
It has now gone down to 20 cases per week in the last two weeks.
Dr. Kama said the major clean-up campaign to get rid of possible breeding areas for mosquitoes has contributed to the declining number of dengue cases around the country.
