Cyclone, flood assessment begins

The Cyclone and flood assessment has begun in the Western Division.

Commissioner Western, Joeli Cawaki said senior officials from his office and DISMAC met with other stakeholders in Lautoka this morning to decide on damage assessment and officers have already been dispatched to areas affected while a team is expected to leave for the outer island this afternoon.

Farmers who had invested alot of time and money in their fields, could do nothing but watch months of their hard work being washed away by flood waters last night.

Deo Shankar of Valley Road in Sigatoka said that Tropical Cyclone Mick has seen all their hard work go down the drain within the span of a few minutes.
