The mother of New Zealand (NZ) based rugby player Osea Namatalevu is asking the New Zealand government to grant visas to her two daughters after doctors in New Zealand told them that the two sisters have to be there as soon as possible for the bone marrow transplant of their brother.
Makarita Namatalevu said she can't understand why it is taking the NZ High Commission so long to grant the visa and she is worried that the delay in issuing visas to her two daughters could result in the death of her son.
She said they believe the delay is because her husband Keveli Namatalevu is a naval officer and questions High Commission officials why the delay because both of them had gone to NZ last year although there is a travel ban imposed on soldiers.
Meanwhile, Army Commander Frank Bainimarama will lead a fundraising drive at the Officer’s Mess this afternoon to assist the Namatalevu family for Osea's medical treatment in NZ which is expected to cost $50,000.
