Student/fisherman latest drown victims

A Primary School student and a fisherman are the latest victims of drowning.

Assistant Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri had confirmed that a 13yr old student of Namatakula, Sigatoka drowned while he was out fishing with his friends yesterday.

A search was conducted and his body was found later a few meters away.

In another incident a 34yr old fisherman of Rabi drowned while spear fishing with his friends on Sunday.

According to police the fisherman went missing soon after diving into the water and villagers located his body.

A Post mortem of both the bodies is expected to be conducted today.

The drowning toll is now 16 compared to 10 during the same period last year.
