The Citizens Constitutional Forum has welcomed the judgment delivered today stating that the rule of law has been upheld.
Chief Executive officer Rev. Akuila Yabaki said the court has reaffirmed that no one is above the law.
He says this judgment provides an opportunity to Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama to make a graceful exit to enable the country the move forward.
CCF calls on Bainimarama to relinquish power as interim Prime minister and pave way for the President to appoint distinguish people as caretaker Prime minister and ministers who are independent of this litigation and who can take the country to elections.
CCF had been granted leave to appear as friend of the court in the Fiji Court of Appeal case of Qarase and Bainimarama.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Fiji Human Rights Commission Dr. Shaista Shameem said the President will be aware of the need not to leave a political vacuum in Fiji and the Appeals court has only indicated to the President what it would be advisable to do so.
In a statement, Dr. Shameem said the Court of Appeal decision does not purport to make any orders for the President, as this would breach the separation of powers doctrine.
