Fuel Retailers asks PM to remove price control

The Fiji Fuel Retailers Association has asked Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama to remove price control from retail fuel prices.

With Service stations around the country switching to self service from 20th of this month, the association said price control and increasing costs have made it impossible for them to earn a reasonable rate.

Association President Baljeet Singh said they will continue to put in their submissions.

He also stressed that during the changeover period one fuel attendant will be available.

The new self-service system is expected to come into force on the 20th of this month and an estimated 400 attendants will lose their jobs by the end of the month.
