Shivam Nathan and Sandeep Nair scored a goal each to help Fiji beat Vanuatu in their first match of the tournament last night by 2 goals to 1.
Fiji were made to battle hard throughout their match against Vanuatu, who were frustrated by a series of excellent saves from Fijian keeper Simione Tamanisau.
The second match last night saw defending champions the Solomon Islands clinch an 8-3 win over New Caledonia.
Competition continues today at the Vodafone Arena with Vanuatu meeting New Caledonia at 6pm and Solomon Islands take on hosts, Fiji at 8pm.
