The interim government has invoked the Public Emergency Regulation again as of today.
In an exclusive interview with Village News, Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama has confirmed that the regulation has been invoked following the recent public statements of Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase and SDL National Director, Peceli Kinivuwai.
Bainimarama said they will now take the necessary steps after the Emergency Regulation came into effect today.
SDL Director, Peceli Kinivuwai was supposed to release a statement in the last hour. He said that he will speak later this afternoon.
Earlier today Commodore Frank Bainimarama stressed that he will not allow Laisenia Qarase and Peceli Kinivuwai to try to destabilize the interim administration.
He said he wants a stable country and the SDL executives will be taken to task for their recent actions.
Bainimarama says the military had remained firm that it will not interfere in Qarase's movements, but he is now concerned about the recent statements by Qarase and Kinivuwai.
Interim Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Police Commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni are expected to have a press conference this hour.
