7 deaths recorded due to leptospirosis

A total of seven deaths have been recorded due to leptospirosis as another person died this week in Lautoka Hospital.

Health Ministry spokesperson Peni Namotu said there is a need for people to seek proper medical treatment rather than traditional medicine and take heed of the symptoms of body aches, fever and blood shot eyes.

The infection is commonly transmitted to humans by allowing water that has been contaminated by animal urine to come in contact with unhealed wounds.
