“Provincial developments will not be successful if the province is relying a lot on government.”
Those are the words of Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama to the people of Lomaiviti at the opening ceremony of the Lomaiviti Festival.
Commodore Bainimarama was happy to see the Lomaiviti Provincial Development Committees showing their support toward what the government wants for every province in Fiji regarding developments.
According to Committee member Vilimoni Lote, a five year fundraising plan with the target of $500,000 was launched by Commodore Bainimarama for the province in achieving greater heights.
He added that the province has been struggling to raise funds in the past to pay its levies to the Provincial Council Office in Levuka.
Government has for the past three years allocated more than $10 million for the developments in the Lomaiviti province.
