The talks with the Fiji Foreign Affairs Minister were positive.
These are the words of NZ Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully on the first round of talks that was held midweek between Kubuabola and their Australian counterpart, Stephen Smith.
McCully said there's a lot of work to be done.
A Fiji Ministry of Information statement said the meeting was convened under an atmosphere of frank and fruitful exchange and this opportunity to meet early in 2010 was considered by the Ministers as an important step towards resolving outstanding issues of mutual importance to the three countries.
The three Ministers viewed this meeting and the meetings in the future as both constructive and progressive in the maintenance of healthy and mutually respective bilateral relations.
Kubuabola also met separately with the NZ Foreign Minister, Murray McCulley to also discuss issues of mutual interest.
