Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase has confirmed that the SDL party will hold discussions soon in relation to the tax evasion allegations against Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry and then refer the matter to FICAC.
He is pleased that FICAC has revealed that they can investigate any case filed before them. Qarase maintains that a full independent investigation should be conducted against Chaudhry for alleged tax evasion as they do not recognize the earlier independent inquiry which cleared the Labour leader.
Qarase stressed that it seems that the matter has been swept under the carpet.
Chaudhry has called on Qarase to stop making personal attacks against him and the Labour leader maintained that he was cleared in relation to the tax evasion claims by an independent inquiry team.
Meanwhile, this morning Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry called on ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase to join the People's Charter process and make amends after taking Fiji in the wrong direction for six years.
Chaudhry said Qarase should be part of the Charter process as the People's Charter will look at uniting the country and ensure that there are equal opportunities for all.
Chaudhry said all the issues relating to the Interim Prime Minister's statement to exclude the SDL from the next elections will be a thing of the past if the SDL joins the Charter process.
When asked by Fijivillage whether he would join the Charter process, Qarase said that he is having successful discussions with Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Bainimarama and he will make further comments after these talks.
