Prime Minster Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is now the Chairman of the International Sugar Organisation as he was unanimously elected while attending the Organisation's 21st seminar in London.
In his acceptance speech also as head of Fiji's Sugar Ministry Prime Minister Bainimarama pointed out Fiji's commitment towards advancing the work of the global sugar body.
The PM also spoke of reforms being carried out to revitalise the industry here highlighting how the industry remains the single largest source of employment outside the public sector, employing 25% of the Fijian workforce.
Meanwhile, Fiji's commitment to hosting the 2013 ISO Meet in June next year was also communicated to the organisation at the London meeting.
