From award-winning resorts and tourism operations to education programmes supporting more than 1,000 children around Fiji, the Kimaya Group says its continued growth and success has been built on the dedication, resilience and heart of its staff.
Speaking during the Kimaya Fiji annual staff awards at Landers Bay Resort and Spa, Managing Director Damend Gounder praised employees across the Group for helping drive the company’s expansion while maintaining strong service standards during challenging economic times.
Gounder told staff that every role within the organisation matters, from resort operations and transport services to administration, weddings, tours and maintenance.
He says he acknowledges that despite growing competition and rising operational costs, the Group must remain disciplined, united and focused while continuing to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Gounder says guests remember the warmth, care and professionalism shown by staff, adding that service excellence remains central to the “Kimaya Way”.
During the awards evening, he also highlighted the Group’s achievements at the 2025 World Travel Awards, where Yatule Resort & Spa by Kimaya was named Fiji’s Leading Resort, while Hideaway Resort & Spa by Kimaya received both Fiji’s Leading Family Resort and Oceania’s Leading Family Resort honours.
Tour Managers Fiji by Kimaya was also recognised as Fiji’s Leading Tour Operator.
Gounder says the Group has again been nominated for the 2026 World Travel Awards and encouraged staff and supporters to vote.
He also outlined plans for continued innovation, including the introduction of electric vehicle coaches and new room concepts at Hideaway Resort & Spa aimed at enhancing the guest experience.
The managing director further highlighted the work of the Kimaya Foundation and the Kimaya Brighter Minds Trust, which continue to support schools and students across Fiji.
He says more than 1,000 children have already participated in the Brighter Minds programme, with another 233 schools now registered to join.
Gounder says the Group remains committed not only to tourism and hospitality, but also to “people, purpose, community and nation-building”.
