In an exciting opportunity, students from the Umanand Prasad School of Medicine and Health Sciences are set to train in a state-of-the-art 130-bed Pacific Specialist Healthcare speciality hospital in Nadi.

While speaking during a recent Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospitals corporate social and “know your hospital” event, University of Fiji Acting Dean Dr Abhijit Gogoi says this is the first private hospital in Fiji that brings together so many modern facilities under one roof.

He says the students currently have limited exposure to facilities like cath labs, cardiac units or neurosurgery suites and this partnership could be transformative for their training.

Dr Gogoi says the collaboration would allow students to rotate through advanced units experience that is currently unavailable at UPSMHS.

He adds that the collaboration represents a win-win situation where students would benefit from exposure to cutting-edge medical technology and practices, while PSH Hospitals could identify promising future staff from among the UPSMHS graduates.

PSH Hospitals’ Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Parvish Kumar, says they are ready to support the medical school and its students to help them become fine medical professionals.

Kumar says the hospital’s innovative approach and continuous investment in modern technology were central to the vision of expanding quality healthcare in Fiji and the broader Pacific region.
