COVID-19 death toll in the USA surpasses 4,000

The COVID-19 death toll has surpassed 4,000 in the United States of America and there are fears as many as 200,000 people could die there.

The US has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world with 163,199 cases followed by Italy with 105,792 cases.

The death toll in Italy rose to 13,155, up by 727 - about 100 fewer than the day before.

There are now 823,626 confirmed cases of COVID-19 around the world. 40,598 people have died from the virus around the world while 190,901 people have recovered from COVID-19.

206 countries or territories around the world have a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Australia has 4,707 cases and 20 deaths while New Zealand has 647 cases and one confirmed death.

Europe’s recorded death toll has officially topped 30,000.

The number of people to have died from the virus in the UK has increased by 563 to 2,352.

According to the World Health Organisation, the death toll in Spain is up by 864 as Europe passes another grim milestone in the pandemic.
