Students and teachers at South Taveuni Primary School learned about drug awareness and fire safety during a special programme held as part of Drugs Awareness Week.

The National Fire Authority says officers from the Taveuni Green Watch, led by Sub Officer Sailia Vakarisea, were invited as chief guests and conducted practical fire safety demonstrations.

The demonstrations included a fire drill, safe practices when working at heights, and the proper use of portable fire extinguishers and fire blankets to put out oil fires.

The Authority says the programme provided students with valuable lessons on the dangers of drugs and the importance of fire safety, encouraging them to make safe and responsible choices.

They says community outreach and public education continue to play an important role in helping build safer and more resilient communities across Fiji.
