Three people died in a horrific road accident in Karavi, Ba, earlier today while two people are admitted in serious condition at the Ba Hospital.
Police confirmed that the male driver and two female passengers travelling in a rental car are dead after their vehicle collided with a bus.
The driver and one of the passengers died at the scene while the other passenger died on her way to hospital.
Meanwhile, arrangements are now being done for counselling to be provided to seven fire officers who were part of the team that removed the driver and passengers following the fatal accident in Karavi today.
National Fire Authority chief executive officer John O’Connor said their officers who were on the way from Lautoka came across the accident and contacted the Lautoka office to assist in the rescue operation.
O’Connor said it was a head on collision between a bus and a rental car.
The bus was on its way from Ba to Lautoka while the rental car is believed to be on its way to Tavua.
He said when the rescue team arrived at the scene, three passengers from the rental car were already rushed to the hospital while the driver and another passenger who were pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor were stuck in the car.
The officers managed to pull out two people from the car.
O’Connor said the rental car almost went under the bus.
