The Government of Vanuatu said it wants Fiji to be returned as a member of Pacific Islands Forum as soon as possible.
Radio New Zealand reported that a top foreign ministry official, Jean Sese, made the comment while discussing preparations ahead of the Forum summit in Vanuatu in August.
Sese said however, at this year's summit Fiji will not be present because of last year=s Port Moresby resolution which suspended Fiji from the Forum.
He said regional countries should have more dialogue with Fiji and the regional and international community for Fiji's re integration.
He said Fiji's Foreign Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola was in Port Vila this week and met the Prime Minister, Edward Natapei, but no details have been released .
