80 families of Sawani Village in Naitasiri have evacuated to their village hall and the church due to flooding as the Waimanu River burst its bank.
ASP Seveci Tavusa said flood waters entered the homes of the villagers at 6 this evening because of the high tide.
He said the flood water is now receding.
He said the village is still without power as the huge debris knock power lines down.
