The Ministry of Education has urged schools in the Western division and especially those in the low-lying areas to take necessary precautions now.
Permanent Secretary, Dr Brij Lal said school committees should ensure that office equipment and text books are moved to higher ground and to tighten lose materials lying on the ground.
He has also called on school committees to inform parents and students to stay away from any flooding.
He added that they will be closely working with the Weather Office and will be making necessary announcements when and if the need arises.
