The Indian High Commission this morning celebrated the 65th Republic day of India.
Indian High Commissioner Shri Vinod Kumar said that they are fortunate to be the first celebrating the special occasion in Fiji and thanked the Fiji Government for their help and support.
Kumar said this year will be very challenging for India and Fiji as both countries will be having their general elections.
He also thanked all people of Indian descent who have contributed by any means to their adopted home land.
In India, Republic Day honors the date on which the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act as the governing document of India.
