Investigation underway over alleged procedure for termination of pregnancy

An investigation is underway in relation to an incident where a 35-year-old woman was taken to the CWM hospital on Wednesday night following an alleged procedure for the termination of her pregnancy.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said the woman suffered some complications after the alleged procedure at the doctor's medical center on Tuesday and was taken to the CWM hospital by the same doctor the next day.

The matter was reported to police by the medical authorities after she underwent surgery.

Naisoro said the initial report states that the woman was referred to the doctor following a scan conducted by another doctor which had stated that the woman had allegedly lost her baby.

Police are still looking into the scan results.

Naisoro said the woman and her husband had paid the doctor to conduct the surgery and when she returned the next day she was informed by the doctor that she had developed some complications and had to be referred to CWM hospital.

The doctor returned the money to the victim and conveyed her to the hospital.
