Thirteen out of fifteen people alleged to have been involved in looting two supermarkets during Tropical Cyclone Evan will be spending their Christmas in prison after they were sentenced to one month imprisonment.
The thirteen were sentenced to a total of six months behind bars, out of which five months has been suspended for three years.
The thirteen pleaded guilty to the charge of burglary and theft.
They allegedly broke into a supermarket wholesale bulk between the 17th and 18th of this month and stole $20,000 worth of groceries.
Two other people who also face similar charges in relation to the alleged incident have pleaded not guilty and have been remanded in custody until 4th of next month.
