I’ve never been so proud to be a Fijian.
Those were the words of Laisiasa Veikoso who was part of the seven member Conservatorium Group who recently performed in US millionaire Oprah Winfrey’s show in Washington.
Veikoso who is the director of the group said they were invited by Tourism Fiji after they had received a request from Oprah for a group of Fijian cultural dancers to perform in her show “Oprah’s Favorite Things: 2012”.
He said in the show Oprah gifted 30 military spouses with a trip to Namale Resort & Spa in Fiji including two round trip tickets on Air Pacific and they entered in Fijian cultural attire and entertained the spouses and Oprah with a traditional spear dance.
He said they were just star struck and honored to meet Oprah.
He said the show has a viewer ship of over 80 million people which was a great marketing opportunity for Fiji.
The show will re-air tonight in the US on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
