Suva City Council Special Administrator Chandu Umaria believes fining people who cross anywhere, will stop fatal accidents from happening again at the Suva Bus Stand.
Umaria said currently they have more than 10 enforcement officers directing people to follow the new walk ways and footpaths at the Suva Bus Stand.
Umaria said their officers can only do so much.
Fijivillage has also noticed that some people are still seen crossing from anywhere at the bus stand.
This is occurring despite repeated calls by the enforcement officers and even the new walk ways and footpaths being made for pedestrians to use.
Umaria said the Suva Bus Stand is more than 30 years old and the upgrade works will begin soon.
$60 million has been set aside for the development and expansion of the Suva Municipal market which also includes the two level Suva Bus stand.
