The Fijian Teachers Association is currently awaiting the decision of the Vice Chancellor of Fiji National University, Doctor Ganesh Chand after the sacking of senior lecturer, Pita Waqawai.
Fijivillage has received confirmation that Waqawai who was also the President of the FTA Fiji National University branch, was sacked for misusing institutional facilities for purposes that was not related to the FNU.
We have received information that Waqawai was sending emails containing misleading information about the National Toppers Scholarship programme using the official FNU email and facilities.
When questioned on Waqawai's dismissal from the FNU, Vice Chancellor, Doctor Ganesh Chand said he will not say anything on this matter.
Fijivillage has received information that the Fijian Teachers Association met with Doctor Chand last week.
They are negotiating for the Waqawai sacking decision to be reviewed.
When contacted, FTA General Secretary, Maika Namudu said that he cannot disclose anything at this stage.
