Government has introduced the Disaster Rehabilitation Housing Assistance Policy to assist all Fijians who have sustained damage or even lost their homes from the recent cyclone.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said that the assistance is intended to minimize the financial burden for families whose joint income does not exceed $20,000 and who have been severely affected by the recent cyclone.
The housing policy assistance extends to homes located in village boundaries and recognized settlements around the country.
In order for interested applicants to qualify, they will also need to verify the damage sustained to their homes.
While government will also shoulder much of the financial obligation for this assistance, home owners will be required to assist.
