20 cases of people in different landowning units not receiving equal lease payment for their iTaukei land has been handled by the iTaukei Land Trust Board.
TLTB General Manager, Alipate Qetaki said these cases have been reported from the 1st of January 2012 to 3rd June 2013.
He said a total of 100 complaints have been received from the members of the landowning units.
Qetaki said when they receive the complaint, they freeze the lease payment until the matter is resolved.
The government decided in 2010 that all members of a mataqali should get equal amount of lease money for the itaukei land that is leased out.
Prior to this, the chiefs and the heads of the mataqali were receiving the large chunk of the lease money.
Qetaki said under the current system, the lease is paid into the mataqali trustees' accounts and they have to equally distribute the money.
