The Social Democratic and Liberal Party is now planning to oppose the proposed Fiji First Party's symbol registration if it is blue and white.
Although the Electoral Decree does not give any political party the right to have a copyright on a colour for its party, SODELPA’s senior official, Doctor Tupeni Baba said it would not be right if the proposed Fiji First Party has the same colour as SODELPA.
Doctor Baba said they will not stop by just making statements and will formally oppose the registration of the symbol when the application is made.
When contacted, the proposed leader of the proposed Fiji First Party, Voreqe Bainimarama said that he will not make any comments.
Based on our analysis of the Electoral Decree, no party owns a colour.
When questioned on this, Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem said he will not comment at this stage.
