The Fiji National Provident Fund had rejected 11,265 applications that was received by its members after the flood that hit the country earlier this year.
Chief Executive Officer, Aisake Taito said FNPF received 58,156 applications for assistance and while 11,265 applications were rejected only 1,890 applications were queried, as some of these did not have correct and genuine information.
FNPF to date has paid out a total of $40million dollars to its members who were affected by the flood.
Meanwhile, when asked on reports that many people are turning to FNPF for withdrawals due to the financial hardships, Taito said all applications received by them are processed according to the guidelines set out by Fiji National Provident Fund Policy.
Taito said that members should understand that their funds are for their retirement adding withdrawals will drastically reduce the funds.
