Nationwide dengue cleanup campaign continues

With the increase in dengue cases, a nationwide cleanup campaign continues today.
In Suva, the municipal council assisted the Ministry of Health officials to clean up the Walu Bay area this morning.
Health Inspector in-charge of the campaign Elia Lawena confirmed till now, up to 66.9 tonnes of waste has been collected through this campaign.
He said most of this waste is mainly collected from the industrial areas.
He said warning letters has been issued to people in-charge of these areas.
Lawena said there has been an increase in the number of participants as 1,477 participants took part in the nationwide cleanup last week excluding the municipal council members.
Meanwhile, 15,446 suspected dengue cases have been reported to the Ministry of Health so far.
There have been 12 confirmed deaths of dengue.
6 are from the Central division, 4 are from the Western division, 1 from the Eastern division and 1 from the Northern division.
The youngest victim is a 2 and a half months old baby while the oldest victim is a 65 year old.
