The construction of the $290 million casino project near the entrance to Denarau is yet to start.
Construction has been delayed for several months now at the new site.
Only a digger is at the site and nothing further has been done.
We have been calling the developers One Hundred Sands Limited Chairperson Larry Claunch and have sent him questions.
However, there has been no response.
Claunch had said that they were yet to get approvals on the crown land at the site which is also partially free hold.
We have sent questions to the Director for Lands, Preetika Prasad on this issue.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had earlier confirmed that the developers had paid the government the US$100,000 penalty for the month of October and government was yet to receive a response from One Hundred Sands Limited on showing cause as to why their license should not be cancelled.
Another penalty has also kicked in for this month.
The developers have to pay government US$100,000 every month until the casino project is completed.
