People living in low-lying areas are advised to take necessary precautions as occasional heavy rain is expected for the whole of the group tonight which may cause flash flooding.
The Nadi Weather office said at 10am today the Tropical Depression was located 1,400 kilometers to the West-North-West of Nadi.
It is currently slow moving but expected to move South in the next 24 hours before turning southeast.
Director Alipate Waqaicelua said the weather will worsen tomorrow.
He maintains the system is not expected to directly affect Fiji at this stage due to the direction its taking, the distance and slow movement, people are expected to experience strong winds and increasing rain from tomorrow.
Rain will be heavy at times over the country with possibly strong and gusty northwest winds and squally thunderstorms.
There is still a moderate possibility of the system becoming a cyclone in the next 24 hours.
