The Namosi Joint Venture is conducting studies and exploration to determine if a copper mine with gold by-products can be developed at Waisoi in Namosi.
NJV Country Manager Greg Morris said under the environment management act 2005, the Waisoi project requires an environmental impact assessment to assess potential social and environment impacts of a mine in the area which is currently underway.
According to Morris the project would only proceed if government approvals are given.
He said that if government does not approve then their entire infrastructure will have to be removed and all operations will have to cease.
Meanwhile, the company currently employs 130 people.
