Pita Driti’s lawyer, Filimoni Vosarogo asked Lt Colonel Manasa Tagicakibau a number of times during cross examination in the Driti trial yesterday afternoon why he did not contact the Army Commander as soon as he came to know about what was being said about the Government in 2010.
It was highlighted that in July 2010, Tagicakibau and Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara had gone to South Korea to finalize the procurement of arms where Ratu Tevita had raised concerns about the Commodore Bainimarama led government.
Vosarogo asked Tagicakibau if he found the comments to be serious and if he reported the matter.
Tagicakibau replied by saying that he found it to be serious but he did not report it and told Ratu Tevita to enter into a dialogue with the Commander of the RFMF.
Vosarogo then asked Tagicakibau about his evidence that in August 2010 Driti had summoned him for a meeting and had said that the Commander was moving away from his course and was influenced by the Attorney General.
Upon questioning, Tagicakibau told the court that he did not report the matter and told Driti to discuss the matter with the Commander.
Vosarogo then asked Tagicakibau if he did find Driti’s comments as serious when he had mentioned in a meeting in September 2010 that the Attorney General has to be eliminated by Christmas of 2010 and that Tagicakibau had to find ways to do this.
Tagicakibau said he saw this as a serious matter.
Vosarogo then asked why he did not report it to Police to which Tagicakibau said that their intelligence work was in progress and they were collecting evidence.
