A total of 500 drivers have been booked for speeding between 6am Thursday till 6 yesterday evening.
Director Traffic Mahesh Mishra said speeding continues to be the leading traffic infringement causing road accidents and fatalities.
He said in cases of drunk and drive six drivers have also found themselves spending their long weekend in a cell as they wait for their cases to be brought before the courts.
He added that the trend in bookings recorded by Traffic officers across the divisions continue to paint a worrying picture.
With more movement anticipated over the next 48 hours the head of the Traffic Department is requesting motorists to immediately adopt a change of mindset.
