Suicide case increase raises concerns

Suicide case increase raises concerns

Serious concerns are again being raised about the number of reported suicide and attempted suicide cases.

There are already 105 suicide cases and 125 attempted suicide cases for this year compared to 36 suicide cases and 96 attempted suicide cases for the same period last year.

Fijivillage has established that a man in his early 30s died earlier this month in hospital.

He ingested a chemical due to some problems and according to some family members he did not know the devastating effects of the chemical.

Police have also revealed that a student attempted to commit suicide due to concerns raised on her examination results and in another incident, a woman attempted to commit suicide after a dispute with her defacto husband.

These are some of the many cases the Police Force has received to date and is becoming a great concern as to why people no longer feel they have anyone else to turn to about their problems.

Majority of the cases have been a result of relationship and domestic disputes and can be easily solved through dialogue.

Parents have also been urged to be careful when approaching issues in relation to their children’s examination results
