In the track event in the women’s open Younis Bese ran against Elenoa Sailosi and Sisilia Seavula.
The men’s 100 meters had Banuve Tabakaucoro, Aaron Powell and Sila College star Samisoni Bai compete.
Later this hour is the 200 & 400 meters final.
In the field events the open men’s javelin and open women's shot put is underway.
The Chief Guest this morning was Olympic gold medalist and four time world long jump champion Dwight Phillips.
According to the meet organiser Maciu Koroitamana among those who were part of the huge crowd that turned up to watch was the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
