The Fiji Police Force said the Easter Weekend operations will also cover all picnic spots.

To date the drowning death toll stands at 20 of which seven victims were under the age of 10.

Eight victims were from the Eastern Division, seven from the Western Division while four were from the Northern Division.

There has been one drowning incident in the Southern Division.

Chief Operations Officer, ACP Rusiate Tudravu said close attention must be on our children and their movement at all times.

Tudravu said all day workers from the various headquarters will supplement operational officers on the ground by engaging in some extra duties for the Easter weekend.

He said they want to ensure maximum visibility at all divisions during peak business hours and in peri-urban areas.

Tudravu said in anticipation of the influx of people into all divisions, Police officers will be out in numbers to ensure the safety of the general public.
