A Consumer Complaints and Compensation Tribunal is expected to be set up in the next few months which will address consumer issues.
Chief Executive Officer, Premila Kumar says consumers will be able to raise their issues directly to the tribunal and get their compensation.
Kumar said currently cases above $5000 cannot be taken to the Small Claims Tribunal and the Consumer Complaints and Compensation Tribunal will make the redress system affordable.
During World Consumer Rights Day Speak out Session, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed had said that during 2014 budget address, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama had allocated $500,000 to set up the tribunal.
