Fiji Airways intends to spend part of its after tax profit of $14.5 million over the last 9 months on the purchase of a new ATR72 aircraft.
Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways Stefan Pichler said the new aircraft is also part of the airline expanding it's fleet from this year.
Pichler said as the company undertakes growth; there are plans to purchase more planes.
AWe have of course more funding we get more aircraft.
We just now purchase a new ATR-72, later on we fund another ATR72-600 then we are going to fund a 737 by the end of the year which will come to our fleet.
Then finally by the end of 2016 beginning 2017 we’ll have another 737"
Pichler was not able to disclose the cost of the planes stating a non-disclosure agreement signed with the buyers.
He also said a certain portion of this year’s profits will also go towards the loan repayment of the three A330's.
He said $1.25million was spent on the profit share for staff.
