With Tropical Cyclone Evan approaching and an alert being given for those in the North people are being advised to take the necessary precautions now while it is still daylight, this is from the Divisional Northern Planning Officer, Alipate Bola.
According to Bola 51 evacuation centers are ready for use within the province of Macuata.
As the North continues to brace itself for Tropical Cyclone Evan in Taveuni District Officer Peni Tora said the Public Works Department are currently clearing large trees near roads and houses while DISMAC are advising villagers on evacuation centers close to them.
In Savusavu Inspector Tomasi Yabakioni said shops are already putting up shutters in the town also villages and hotels along the coastal areas from Udu Point to Dawara have been advised on Cyclone preparations with 10 evacuation centers now on standby.
Meanwhile, Sharon Smith Johns Permanent Secretary of Information said the Emergency Service Team and Dismac are on high alert.
