Tongan National charged with theft changes plea

A Tongan National charged with theft today changed his plea to guilty in the Suva magistrates court.
It is alleged that Timani Alamonimaka with another person broke into a house in Suva and stole $8780 worth of items earlier this year.
Today Magistrate Janaka Bandara asked the DPP lawyer whether he will serve his sentence in Tonga if he is convicted here.
The lawyer replied that the offence is committed here and he will not be serving his sentence in Tonga.
He has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 10th January.
