The students and teachers of Labasa Sangam College that had gathered to start off their hunger strike as a protest over the zero marks in the Form 7 biology paper dispersed on their own.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said that the Divisional Police Commander Northern and a team of police officers had only gone to talk to the students who were with their parents.
Naisoro said they also did not request for a permit as they only went in to advice the students and parents about the issue.
Parent Rajesh Lal said police had spoken to them about the legal side of people gathering in a public place.
Meanwhile, Lal maintained the hunger strike will continue at their home.
He is now planning to take the Ministry of Education to court as he said this is the only way they can get the ministry to show them evidence of malpractice.
