Good news for people suffering from cancer and kidney stones as Minister for Health Dr Neil Sharma commissioned $1.9 million worth of five projects at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital today.
These projects include a new Lithotripter Machine, the new look Wellness Center for Women, the new look Maternity Unit, the new Cytology Machines and the new look CWM Kitchen.
While commissioning these projects, Dr Sharma said technology has changed over the years.
He said the new liquid Cytology Analyzer increases the ability to screen up to 50,000 samples with current staff and cancer screening has become a lot more robust.
Head of Cytology Isoa Volavola said this new system will provide much clear data and will save a lot of time.
Dr Sharma added the new Urology Clinic with Lithotripter will address kidney stones without large incisions.
The Lithotripter and Uro-station have had trial runs and successfully treated 64 patients.
Funding for these news projects were provided by the government, Digicel Fiji and International Women Association and was completed by the Digicel staff and brand ambassadors, representative from the International Women Association and the members of the RFMF.
