New USP Lautoka Campus to be built this year

Construction of a new University of the South Pacific Lautoka Campus is expected to begin in the third quarter of this year.
Vice Chancellor of the University of the South Pacific Rajesh Chandra said this is among the developments the institution is looking forward to for 2014.
Speaking at yesterday’s graduation, he said a 98 bed hostel is also expected to be completed at the Laucala Campus by June this year.
At the Laucala Campus Graduation yesterday, of the 1,285 graduates, 695 were females and 590 were males.
Fiji recorded the highest number of graduates with 1,062, Solomon Islands ranked second with 88 and Tonga third with 40.
A total of 30,000 students have enrolled at the campus recording a 6% enrolment growth for this year.
