Four families of Naikabula Lautoka are homeless today after the flats they lived in was destroyed in a fire last night.
The damage to the partially corrugated iron, timber and concrete house is estimated to be around $150,000.
National Fire Authority Chief Executive John O’Connor said that sixteen people lived in these flats and all managed to escape when the fire started around 8pm.
He said the house fire may have started from a kerosene stove or even a candle as the house was without power after the cyclone.
