It was a colorful start to the Pacific Youth Festival as youths from around the region gathered at Albert Park for the official opening ceremony this morning.
The day officially started with a march from the Suva Flea Market to Albert Park where the full Fijian welcoming ceremony was accorded to officially welcome chief guest President Ratu Josefa Iloilo.
Participants from Marshall Islands, Nauru, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Tonga, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Wallis and Futuna along with two delegations from French Polynesia were dressed in their colorful best as they kick started the week long Pacific Youth Festival.
Organizers have planned panel discussions through the whole week focusing on 5 main topics such as Pacific Identity, the Environment, Skills for Life, Healthy Living and Good Governance.
